Consult on document management outsource projects and contracts ranging in value from $ 60 to 500 million over terms of 2-10 years. Work on major accounts including KeyCorp, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Royal Bank, GTE, AT&T, Lucent, United HealthCare, Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, and Australia Government Printing Services.
Develop consulting methodologies, develop virtual consulting arrangements with partners, participate in development of the business plan. Lead teams developing contract specification and terms, coordinate due diligence team formation and manage large order management software specification and development projects.
UNITED MEDIA CORPORATION (UMC), Houston, Texas
Vice President, Business Services and Consulting (1994-1996). Managed P&L and contract relationships for over $22 million in multi-year graphics management and consulting contracts. Lead executive responsible for the startup, business registration, and arrangement for professional services within the United Kingdom, United Media's first international branch office. Company now owned by Bowne Financial Services.
Outsourced Sprint Corporations graphics and printing services. Developed a UMC managed outsourcing contract and opened near-site production office. Implementation of this contract saved Sprint over $700,000 during first year of $5 million contract.
Expanded relationship with Enron Corp. Reviewed graphic production operations at Enron Capital & Trade Resources and managed transition of Enron Corporate Graphics Department into United Media Corporation outsource contract. Developed strategically focused sales and operations forecasting tools to report to customer. Annual savings to Enron, over $650,000. Value to UMC $6 million.
Re-engineered Bayer Bess Vanderwalker Advertising. Coordinated workflow analysis, network systems review, security audit, and coordinated team that rework the agencys media production standards and use of graphics technology. Annual savings to customer estimated at over $4 million. Value to UMC $2 million.
Created United Media's Media 2000 brand and marketing strategy.
Planned and named integrated package of consulting services, graphics management and technology products designed to modernize corporate workflow and electronic forms and document management. This service is currently installed or under implementation in 80% of United Media's key contracts.
THE METHODIST HOSPITAL SYSTEM, Houston, Texas
Manager, Visual Communications (1985-1994).
Consolidated and managed The Methodist Hospital Visual Communications Department. Planned and managed the merger, growth, and automation of printing, graphics, photography and television into a cohesive cross-trained staff of thirty professionals, billing $2.5 million annually and meeting budget goals eight consecutive years.
Replaced and enhanced Methodist Hospital Cable TV System.
Developed project plan and coordinated multiple vendors to build a $1.2 million CCTV system serving 1,527 patient beds, with 35 channels of off-air programming, premium entertainment, patient education, and teleconferencing services using state-of-the-art addressable technology. Completed project on time and $200,000 under budget.
Networked Methodist Hospital Graphic Design and Production System.
Developed networked system of Macintosh, IBM, SGI, and Genigraphics computers to automate the production of slides, graphic design, video editing, 3D animation and pre-press functions. This network allowed for 200% growth over four years with no additional staffing.
BAYLOR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
DEPT. OF REHABILITATION, Houston, Texas
Coordinator, Materials Development Program (1980-1985).
Managed a $500,000 federal grant to produce slide/sound, multimedia and video programs for the National Institute for Handicapped Research. Designed and implemented the production, marketing, evaluation, and distribution system for these rehabilitation education programs. Produced Mended Dreams videotape that was broadcast on PBS.
Director, Photographic and Audio Visual Services (1979-1985).
Managed $325,000 budget department with 7 staff handling photography, audio, graphic, and video production for clinical, research, and educational applications in the field of medical rehabilitation.
BAYLOR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
MEDICAL ILLUSTRATION DEPARTMENT, Houston, Texas
Medical Photographer (1976-1979). General Photographer (1975-1976), Photographic Technician (1974-1975). Documented medical research encompassing still and motion photography of surgery including work for Dr. Michael E. DeBakey during his ground-breaking research with artificial hearts and transplants. Developed standardized methods for photographing fungi and other samples used for the Dermatology National Board Exams.
